Kicking off 2010 with an update
WHAT'S NEW (click to jump to section): - A bunch of new features and enhancements! - Impress your clients with the new Chrometa Badge - 5 ways to get a complimentary license - 10 minutes with Brett Owens (interview)
Time flies when we're doing what we love :)
Since the last newsletter, we've introduced 2 major updates and 2 minor updates... about on track for our 2-week release cycle.
Behind every new feature (and often a bug fix), there's been at least one passionate user whose perspective helped mold our product vision. Their ideas WOWed us so much that we had to drop everything and go build it. Here are a few of those awesome people:
Jason Bonikowske, Associate Legal Counsel at Just Marketing International, Zionsville/IN Zane Dickens, Web Designer at Webdesign Warehouse, South Africa Thiago Hirai, Software Engineer at Microsoft, Seattle/WA Kevin McKerron, Owner at Fantaplay Entertainment, Toronto/ON Joseph Pevsner, Partner at Thompson & Knight, Dallas/TX
We've left out many names in this list (for sake of keeping this email from overflowing), but we sincerely appreciate everyone's input and support!
Forward to a friend.
New Features & Enhancements
1. Away Time is more useful than ever
Split Away Time: Cut your away time entries into multiple pieces. To try it out, right click on an Away Time entry and select "Split Away Time" from the context menu. (Thanks Bill, Jason, Wes)

Improved Accuracy in Tracking: Away time entries are now calculated from the moment you become inactive on your PC -- adds back the away threshold period to the duration of entries once idle time is triggered. (Thanks Kevin)
Log Away Time Remind Popup: No more scrambling to type in a description. These popups are now permanent and will not disappear unless you tell it to -- we've taken out the timeout that we placed on these popups from earlier releases. (Thanks John)
Other Improvements: smoother drag and drop for Away time (including for multiple selections), Multiple categorization/removal of Away Time entries from context menu
2. Do more with your categories
Drag and Drop Your Categories: easily reorganize your categories. We've taken care of moving all the associated activities accordingly :)
Expanded My Categories Panel: click on the arrow next to My Categories to expand the panel to the full height of your window.

Real-time alphabetical sorting: you asked for it, and here it is. Chrometa now sorts your categories as you make changes. Add or rename a category... and your list is resorted instantly.
3. Improved Usability and Performance
Faster data refresh rates: All views are now refreshed at near-time-time speeds (<1 second delay)
Native system tray behavior
Saves user-defined window size/location: across sessions ... and more! Check our version history for complete details
Woohoo! The Chrometa Badge
Impress your clients and build trust by displaying the Chrometa Badge in your email signature. It takes less than 5 minutes to set up, but will have a lasting effect on how clients perceive the way you bill.

2. If you're an educator (K-12 teacher, professor), email us from your school email address and we'll send you a license.
3. If you're a full-time student, email us from your .edu email address and we'll send you a license.
4. If you're a blogger or journalist willing to write us up, email us your info with the link to your blog or publication and we'll send you a license key, so that you can evaluate Chrometa properly.
5. If you're willing to present Chrometa to a live audience of at least 10 people (at a team meeting, a conference, professional association gathering), email us your info and we'll give you three licenses, one for you to keep and two to give away at the event.
