Come in, this is what we're all about...

We're a tiny software company based in Sacramento that's solving the age-old timekeeping dilemma for professionals who bill for time and expertise.

Our name (pronounced kro-met-uh), a combination of the words "Chrono" (The latin root for Time) and "Metadata" (data about data), affirms our mission to capture and make sense of time — everyone's most valuable resource.

We love creating great software that makes time tracking less tedious, and makes you more productive.

Our company philosophy is simple: build stuff we want to use, and treat our customers the way we want to be treated.

We have a clear vision grounded on frequent conversations with our users, and maintain a laser-like focus on solving just one problem at a time — but doing it with excellence. Oh yeah, everyone here works support (including the CEO). If we had super-powers, those would be delivering delightful user experiences and unbelievable customer service.

Our Story

Chrometa was founded by Brett and Chihab back in 2007. The original inspiration for our product came from Adam — a close friend of Brett — then a freshly-minted attorney out of law school, who hated doing his timesheets. When Brett found out his friend wasn't alone, he and Chihab left their day jobs to solve this problem... and soon Chrometa was born. Shortly thereafter, JP joined the Duo and has been heading up product and support since.

Our first product was Time Tracking Buddy (alpha), released in Q1 2008. In September 2008, we rebranded the company as Chrometa, and released Chrometa 1.0 (beta) in Q3 2008 and v1.1 in Q1 2009. In August 2009, we introduced a complete overhaul with Chrometa for Desktop 2.0, which is the current release. Throughout our development process, our passionate users have been the engine of good product ideas. We really appreciate all your suggestions, and hope that you'll keep 'em flowing!

A fresh approach to time tracking

Virtually all time tracking tools today require you to constantly record your time throughout the day. How is this realistic for busy professionals who support multiple clients, who get bombarded with interruptions?

We imagined a solution that automatically captured all of our work on our PC's — with no data entry required from the user. Fast forward two years, and we're proud to introduce to you a "set-it-and-leave-it" application that does just that. Enjoy!
